Registration

How much does it cost to register for the 2,016 in 2016 Run The Year Challenge?

Registration is a flat one-time $25 fee. (There is no monthly fee or obligation). Registration grants you access to the Run The Year online expo (and all the goodies inside), entrance into 365 days of giveaway contests and lotteries, year long motivation from an amazing community, and over $180 in free Run The Edge training plans. To participate in the Run The Year Challenge you must register here.

2,016 in 2016 Tech Shirts and Finisher Medals are not included in the $25 registration fee, but you can choose to add on a shirt or medal at registration.

Is this Challenge limited to the United States? Can I participate internationally?

Run The Edge wants EVERYONE from EVERYWHERE to participate in the 2,016 in 2016 Challenge. Simply choose “In The United States” or “Outside the United States” at registration to rep your hometown. Shipping is not limited to domestic or international addresses.

I was going to participate as an individual, but now want to join a team. What do I do?

There is no extra registration process or form change necessary to switch between individual and team member. Run The Edge’s mileage tracker allows participants to put in solo miles as well as contribute to a team. Participants may contribute to as many teams as they would like and can join a team at anytime during the challenge. Teams may have as many as 4 members.

How do I get $5 back if I refer a friend?

Run The Edge is very excited to use the “Friend Get Friend” feature on our 2,016 in 2016 registration forms. We understand that covering 2,016 miles in a year may be hard to achieve solo – we want you to ask your friends, family, coworkers, allies and enemies to participate in the challenge with you. Create a team, work together to achieve your goals, and encourage each other all year long.

Once you register, you are given a link that has your registration code at the end. When you share this link with your friends, anyone that clicks on the link and then registers using the link will automatically earn you a $5 credit back to your credit card. There is nothing more you need to do. Simply share your unique url, ensure your friends register using your unique url, and get $5 back.

I forgot to use my unique referral url link, what now?

The entire referral process is done automatically and behind the scenes on the signmeup.com website. The credits and refunds are done directly and securely – Run The Edge does not have access to that information and is not able to alter it manually.

Why didn’t I receive a confirmation email?

There are two reasons this may happen: the email address entered at registration was entered incorrectly or the email was caught in Junk/Spam. Run The Edge recommends participants read over information carefully before submitting and keep the confirmation page open until the email arrives. Email hello@runtheyear2016.com if further access is restricted.

How do I change my email address?

Email changes must be done on our end – send an email to hello@runtheyear2016.com with your first and last name and we’ll get you all set up.

Participation

What counts as "mileage" for the challenge?

The intention of the challenge is for people to push themselves to do more. For some people that means getting out and running more for others that means walking up the stairs at work instead of the elevator.  The most important thing is to challenge yourself to keep moving and after it all year long.  Run The Edge knows that is a little vague but each participant faces different challenges and different situations so we want to allow as many people to improve their fitness is whatever works for them. We are all in this together!

How do I keep track of my miles?

This year we have a mileage tracker built just for this Challenge! It will track your miles for the day, week, month or year. It will also automatically provide milestone bibs and motivation posters. You must first access the mileage tracker from the online expo – this will create your mileage tracker account.

I have a FitBit (or Soleus GPS watch or Garmin running watch) - is there any integration with devices like this?

These devices are an awesome way to track miles! They do not integrate with our mileage tracker, but you can easily input your miles to the tracker anytime.

How can I find a partner or a team to join?

Run The Edge recommends participants go to the Facebook group to reach out to the community. In 2015 we witnessed an overwhelming amount of support, encouragement, and help in the Facebook group. If you’re looking for a partner or team, post in the Facebook group and look through other participant’s posts.

Are there 2,016 in 2016 Run The Year bibs?

Yes, of course! Run The Edge has created milestone bibs for every 100 miles completed, as well as a “mile one” bib and a “2016 mile” bib. Milestone bibs generate automatically on the mileage tracker and can be found here additionally. Click on the bibs, download and print, and share! We encourage all participants to post their bib pictures on the Run The Year Facebook Page.

How do I set up a team?

I don't have a computer - can I still participate?

You can do the challenge via your other devices all year long no problem. The Mileage Tracker is mobile friendly so you can track your miles on your phone or anything else.  You only need to access the online expo on a computer one time to set up the tracker. The online expo is too massive to be used on mobile devices but it is just an extra resource we are providing this year and not necessary for the challenge. Any time you have access to the computer you can check it out to see what is new.

Can I be on more than one team?

For sure! Our mileage tracker will let you accumulate your mileage with as many teams as you like.

Expo & Mileage Tracker

How do I switch users in the mileage tracker?

Why doesn't my Virtual Environment app work?

There are actually two different apps/sites. One from us (Mileage Tracker) and one from Intercall (Online Expo)  The VE App is from Intercall which is the software company we used to build the expo but it can’t handle the massive expo we built.  When you wish to visit the expo it is best to use a computer as the app for them will not work.   However you will be able to use the Mileage Tracker on your phone all year long after you have set it up one time on a computer from the expo. There are instructions in the swag bag in the expo hall that will help you set up the tracker on your phone so it works just like an app.  Here is a quick tutorial video for how to get the tracker set up.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzQkC0XlWq8

I downloaded the Training Plans from the Online Expo but the link says it has expired?

No problem! Because we are giving away the training plans with the discount code you can just go back and order it again using the same code and it will work for you. Hopefully your computer will open it this time. Sometimes different browsers place files in different places. If you think the plan did download you can do a quick search for Run The Year on your computer and it will pop up.

Why won't the tracker recognize my email?

No problem at all.  I can help you get set up. All you need to do it access the online expo one time from a computer. Do so at this link:  http://engage.vevent.com/microsite22.jsp?eid=5168&seid=15
Enter with your email address and the password “runtheyear2016”
Click the “Update Miles” Button in the bottom left corner and create a password for the tracker.  You only need to do this one time and then the tracker will work from any device.

I set up my mileage tracker on my computer - why doesn't my team show on my tracker when I pull it up on my phone?

The team mileage tracker is basically a calculator (Which we will also be improving throughout the year) that adds up your miles every time you hit calculate miles. That information is not saved in the system so it allows you to change the emails and track your progress with different team combinations. You will need to enter your team names on each device you will be using one time and then hit Calculate miles and it will save your team for that device.  I hope that helps. Why doesn't the tracker recognize my teammate's email?

The issue you are having now is that each team member needs to log into the expo on a computer one time – they must create their account so they can be found. Tell them to log into the expo and click the “Update Miles” button and then create a password for their tracker.  The moment they do this the tracker will recognize them and allow you to add them to your team.  Check out the video and if you have any more questions just let me know.

I have requested a password reset, but have not received an email. What do I do?

No problem! We can manually reset your password for you on the administrative side. Simply send us an email at info@runtheedge.com.

Shipping, Returns & Exchanges

I’m stationed in the military but have an APO shipping address - what do I do?

It’s simple: at registration choose “Outside the United States – APO/FPO Military Address”. This selection ensures your shirt/medal ordered at registration are sent to the correct address.

When should I expect to receive the shirt and medal I ordered at registration?

Tech shirts ordered at registration will ship by the end of January. Finisher medals will ship towards the end of the year as participants near the finish line.

I received the wrong size shirt in the mail. What do I do?

If you received the wrong size shirt (i.e. you ordered a Ladies XS and received a Unisex XL), please email us at info@runtheedge.com and we’ll get the correct size to you as soon as possible.

I ordered and received the wrong size. What do I do?

If you would like to exchange your shirt for another size due to fit (i.e. you ordered a Ladies XS but need a Ladies M), send the package back to the original shipped address with a note requesting a different size.

I ordered and received my shirt, but it is damaged. What do I do?

If you would like to request an exchange due to damages, please email us at info@runtheedge.com. Please contact us about damaged shirts within 2 weeks of delivery. Run The Edge is more than happy to provide exchanges for damaged shirts.
